What files do I upload?
We accept PDFs, phone photos (JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC), Excel (.xlsx) or CSV files.
Best results: download the PDF or CSV from your online banking (Statements / eStatements). Photos work too.
Is it AI-only?
AI does the sorting, and you can review and edit every transaction yourself. Our AI reads your statements and suggests a category for each transaction, and fixed rules apply the categories. Anything the AI isn't sure about is flagged for you to confirm in your review screen. AI can make mistakes, so please review your results before using them for taxes or filing.
Do you do my taxes?
No. We do bookkeeping only: we sort your transactions into categories. A category is not tax advice, and we're not a tax, legal, or accounting adviser.
How much does it cost?
$2.50 per Processing Page, pay as you go. Every 25 transactions in a file (or part of 25) = 1 Processing Page ($2.50 pay as you go), for statements (PDF, photos) and spreadsheets alike. A file with no transactions is $0. Receipts are $0.20 each. The minimum order is $5. Canadian prices: plus GST/HST. US customers: no GST (zero-rated exports); sales tax may apply where required. You see the price before you pay. We count pages and transactions on upload and show the price. Reading, AI review and download happen only after you pay. Prices are in CAD in Canada and USD in the US ($2.50 per page for you). See Pricing.
Is there a free trial?
No. On upload we only count pages and transactions and show the price. Reading, AI review and download happen only after payment. There is no free preview processing. Membership plans and pay-as-you-go both require payment before reading or download.
Do you have monthly plans?
Yes. Solo is $12/month or $120/year: 5 Processing Pages a month (unused pages roll over for 3 months) and 50 receipts; extra page $2.50. Business is $29/month or $290/year: 15 pages a month, 200 receipts, 3 users; extra page $2. Pro is $59/month or $590/year: 32 pages a month, unlimited receipts, 3 businesses; extra page $1.90. Founding Members (the first 300, or until March 31, 2027) pay Solo $10 or Business $27 a month, locked while the subscription stays active. 30-day money-back on the first payment. Plans renew automatically; cancel online anytime; yearly plans get a reminder 30 to 40 days before renewal and a full refund within 14 days after a yearly renewal. Canadian prices: plus GST/HST. US customers: no GST (zero-rated exports); sales tax may apply where required. Without a plan it is pay as you go at $2.50 per Processing Page.
Do receipts cost extra?
Pay as you go: $0.20 per receipt; each receipt photo or file counts as one. Plans include receipts: Solo 50, Business 200, Pro unlimited.
Do you support both the US and Canada?
Serving Canada and the United States. Only those two countries: Canada (outside Quebec and Saskatchewan for now), and the United States. You choose your country at signup and pay in your own currency, with each country's own prices ($2.50 per Processing Page).
How long does it take?
We count pages and transactions on upload and show the price. Reading, AI review and download happen only after you pay. Reading times will be posted after launch, once we have measured them on real statements. You see the status on your job page.
How is my data handled?
Account information, books and encrypted files are stored on Render in Oregon, USA. Our AI processes documents on our company-controlled server in Alberta, Canada. This is cross-border processing, not Canadian-only data residency.
Do I need to get on a call?
No. We're email- and chat-first. If you'd like a call, ask in chat and a person will set one up.
Catching up on months of books?
Two ways. Pay as you go: upload a whole year at once and see the price before you pay. Or a catch-up bundle: one past year done at once, plus 3 months of the plan (Solo year $149, Business year $349). See Pricing. Over 1,000 Processing Pages? Contact us for a quote.
I found a mistake. What now?
AI can make mistakes. Tell us what's wrong and we'll fix it — and you'll earn a discount on your next order. See the refund policy.
Can I add more statements to a job later?
Yes. While a job is open, your portal offers “Add files to this job”, so a forgotten statement goes into the same job instead of starting a duplicate.
What if I upload the wrong file?
Use “Replace a file” on the job page and give a short reason. We keep the old copy in our records so we can see what changed.
Who can see my files?
Your files are read by our own AI. Our staff may look at a file only to help you, fix a fault, or for security, fraud or legal reasons, and every view is logged. The full list of who may see your documents is in our Privacy Policy, Section 5. Each client login sees only its own jobs. See Security for details.
How do I pay?
By card through Stripe at checkout. Your card statement shows AIBOOKSORT.COM. We never see or store your full card number.

Which US tax forms do your categories match?
Each category has a suggested line on Schedule C (sole proprietors and single-member LLCs) and Form 1120 (C corporations): see the table. S corporations (Form 1120-S) and partnerships or multi-member LLCs (Form 1065) are not mapped to line numbers yet; your export works the same and your accountant assigns the lines. We prepare bookkeeping only; we do not prepare or file any return.
Do you handle US sales tax?
No. Ai Book Sort does not work out whether you owe sales tax in any state and does not prepare sales tax returns. Sales tax shown on a statement or receipt can go in its own category so your accountant can review it.
Do you prepare 1099s?
No. We do not prepare or file Forms 1099. Your sorted transactions show who you paid, so you or your accountant can decide who needs a 1099-NEC. For payments made in 2026 the IRS threshold for most 1099-NEC forms is $2,000 ($600 for 2025 payments).
I got a 1099-K from Stripe, PayPal or Square. Will my books match it?
Usually not on their own, and that is normal. A 1099-K shows gross payments before fees and refunds; your bank statement shows the net payout. Give your accountant both the 1099-K and the processor's fee and refund report so they can match them.
Where is my data if I'm in the US?
Your files, account and transaction lines are stored encrypted with Render in Oregon, USA. To read your statements, Bukso AI runs on rented servers and GPU computers in Canada or the United States (rented servers), and on our own computers in Alberta, Canada (see Service Providers), so your files may be processed in Canada or the United States. They are never sent to an outside AI company. Card payments go through Stripe. Full provider list.
You're a Canadian company. Which law applies?
Bukso Technologies Corp. is a Canadian corporation in Calgary, Alberta. Our Terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and Canada (Terms section 20), and nothing in them removes rights you have where you live that cannot be waived.
When can I reach a person?
By email (support@aibooksort.com) or the chat button. We reply within one business day.
I'm a US CPA. Can I get your security answers in writing?
Yes. We do not have a SOC 2 report or any other third-party audit. Email support@aibooksort.com and we will answer your vendor security questionnaire in writing: encryption, two-step sign-in, access logs, where data is stored, how long it is kept and how we handle a breach. Accountants & Multi-Client Firms plans come with a Data Processing Agreement. Our AI reading happens on rented servers and GPU computers in Canada or the United States (rented servers), and on our own computers in Alberta, Canada; if your firm has rules about sharing client tax information across the border, please check them first.
Do plans renew automatically? How do I cancel?
Yes, plans renew until you cancel, and you agree to that at checkout. Cancel online anytime from your Membership page in 2 clicks. Yearly plans get a reminder email 30 to 40 days before each renewal.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, in these cases: pages we cannot read are never charged; a 30-day money-back on the first payment of any plan; a full refund if you cancel within 14 days after a yearly renewal; a refund for a wrong page count; and a full refund if you cancel before we start processing a paid Order. Refund policy.
I think a charge is wrong. What do I do?
Email support@aibooksort.com within 90 days with your order reference, so we can fix it quickly. This does not limit your right to dispute a charge with your card issuer.
What if the AI gets something wrong?
Anything Bukso AI is not sure about is flagged for you to confirm, and you can change any line before and after you download. If we miscategorize or miss transactions on a page you paid for, you get a free redo; or ask for a refund for those pages within 14 days of delivery. Please tell us within 30 days of the download.
Can I check the AI's work?
Yes. You can review and edit every transaction yourself in your review screen before you use your results. AI can make mistakes, so please check them.
What if a page can't be read?
Blank, corrupted, wrong or too-blurry pages are not charged. We tell you which page, so you can upload the bank's PDF or a better photo.
How long do you keep my files?
Pay-as-you-go jobs are deleted 24 hours after you download (save your files). Members keep their transactions and reports while their plan is active, up to 6 years. Backups are kept at most 30 days. Data retention policy.
Can I send the results to my accountant?
Yes. Download files for QuickBooks Online, Xero, Excel or CSV, plus a PDF report, and send them to your accountant. Ai Book Sort is bookkeeping software, not tax advice, and it never files returns.
